    He was speaking as a dad, not a coach (yeah right).

    Interesting contrast. Trent Dilfer came to UAB knowing that the players were backing taking the interim tag off of Bryant Vincent. When he was asked at the presser about the portal, he said his first priority was recruiting the existing players.

    In among everything else he was doing, he watched tape on the team (maybe before it went public, dunno). He has sat down and talked to players and knew their names, positions, strengths and weaknesses.

    Last I heard there are three in the portal. Bahamas Bowl on the 16th with both Vincent and Dilfer coaching. A whole lot of wait and see, I guess. A lot better than it might have been.

    It's a bit different from what's happening in Colorado.

    Deon's not doing anything any other coach who bails for a bigger opportunity has done. Maybe a little more public about it though.

    Modell is a lying rat. While I have no admiration for "Midnight Mel" or PrimeTime let us not slander them by comparing them to Art Modell.

    The fact that Modell made hundreds of millions of dollars through his lies is strong evidence that there is no God.

    Two major differences:

    One coach has done it in a college setting already and (presumably) had other coaching opportunities;

    one guy is a former white QB, the other is/was not.
    So Dilfer's not going to be able to come in and say "new sheriff in town." But, if he did, I don't think he'd be getting as criticized harshly for it like Mr. Sanders.

    BTW, saw Mr. Sanders' speech to CU players and saying he told everyone "go to the portal because I'm cleaning house" is not accurate, he was saying the acceptance of losing and the status quo was unacceptable so IF that's what you want, there's the portal.

    "We got a few positions already taken care of cause I'm bringing my luggage with me. And it's Louis. I'm coming. Ain't gonna be no more of the mess these wonderful fans, the student body and some of your parents have put up with for, probably, two decades now. I'm coming. And when I get here, there's gonna be change. So I want ya'll to get ready. Go ahead and jump in the portal and do whatever you wanna do."

    Colorado had seven decommits on Monday. Of the 13 still left in the class, the highest ranked overall is at 535 and the bottom 7 are outside the top 1,000

    So they thought they might salvage a recruiting class and instead destroyed it.

    I think the idea was that they were going to salvage what they could via the portal this year. With the December signing date, any Power 5 coaching change is basically a surrender acknowledgment for that high school recruiting cycle.

    If you were the football SID at Colorado, would you start polishing your resume, or buckle in and hold on for the ride?

    Ain't nobody gonna fuck with Dave Plati. Not even Deion. He's a CU institution. Reading Curtis Snyder's bio, seems like he's pretty solidly entrenched too. These aren't just fresh out of school at their first job.
