Our middle school wrestling coach told us John Smith (the guy who lost an NCAA Final to Gym Jordan, longtime Oklahoma State head coach) exercised during commercials year round, and his commitment was what made him so good. I did it for most of my seventh grade season (early 90s, no cable in my house back then, so I probably watched an hour of tv a day at best) and I still sucked. But, for that season at least, I was fully committed.

 

It still bothers me that Gym Jordan beat him in the NCAA finals, so there’s something I feel like I have to respect about that asshole.

 

You and me both. I've gone back and watched that match a few times.

 

Oh shit, Crossville? They’ll never keep a fully-staffed store if they drug test regularly. I take no pleasure in saying that either as someone whose Cumberland County roots go back generations.

 

The most amazing thing about this tweet is that it's from Christian Walker. Sure, he has said it all before, but I've really got to hand it to him, trying to get the truth out, about his own dad no less. I'm so glad Herschel Walker lost the runoff, but I can't believe Christian's thoughts didn't give more pause, and that more people didn't listen to him.

 

I suspect many Republican voters are narcissists that now have children that have gone NC (no contact) with them, and they have "no idea!!!" why. It's a common enough thing that there's a name for it - "missing" missing reasons. It's probably part of how you can disassociate and vote for someone who's obviously unqualified. "Well, all kids these days are just so shitty and ungrateful, I know what Herschel is dealing with!"

 

The sad truth for Republicans is that if you throw out some bland conservative who won't say outrageous things about "the libs" they'll lose as many MAGA types who won't vote as they might gain.
