    Bye Felicia.

Sinema switches to independent, shaking up the Senate

You had to know this might happen after the Senate was Manchin-proofed but not Sinema-proofed. But it won't make much of a ripple. She will continue to caucus with the Dems to keep her committee seats.

She was going to be primaried in 2024 and was vulnerable, so politically this was her best move.

Probably spot on with the politics of it. (See Murkowski, Lisa) Doesn't lose primary, people can watch the polls and see how it looks in November ahead of the general and vote. Still, an absolutely crazy Gabbard-esque political arc. I'm still not certain anyone - including herself - has figured out where she stands on political issues. She's all over the place.

But the problem she faces is that I think each side is frustrated by her - and I'm not sure anyone really thinks of her as an effective Senator.

She was going to lose a primary challenge anyway -- why not be even more a pain in the ass on the way out the door

Some people get into politics because they crave the attention of others, and she's surely one. But this move is meaningless except for how many times the name Sinema will be used in pixel and over the air today. Running as an independent in 2024, she might, repeat might, get 10 percent of the vote in a general election.

And there's a million of us just like me
Who cuss like me, who just don't give a f*ck like me
Who dress like me, walk, talk and act like me
And just might be the next best thing, but not quite me

'Cause I'm Dim Shady, yes, I'm the real Shady
All you other Dim Shadys are just imitating
So won't the real Dim Shady please stand up
Please stand up, please stand up?

I assume if she doesn’t vote with the caucus sufficiently she gets stripped of her committee seats?

No, once she votes for Schumer for leader, that's it. Besides, she doesn't vote against the caucus all that much. There are plenty of purely performative pols in Congress but almost all of them are doing a performance based on some sort of ideological belief or appeal. Sinema just performs. She's the street mime of the Senate.

Yep. Cost him a Senate seat. He was going to win.

Is he trying to do The Griddy or is his diaper full?

Or is he trying to inch away from Eminem?
