    Days like today are why I’d prefer the World Cup stay on that side of the globe. Sports during a weekday are awesome.

    Still amazing that wasn’t a red on Argentina after smacking the ball into a group of Dutch players and getting lucky that it didn’t hit anyone

    Agreed. Would have been a big moment for the ESP referee to do it considering the time/situation/circumstances. Did not have the testicular fortitude.

    That "while" in the NPR tweet is doing a lot of work. I deeply hope (and also deeply doubt) that this was some sort of random medical incident. Otherwise, everything about this tournament can go to hell. Frankly, it probably should have well before this.

    He collapsed at the stadium and later passed. But yea, this comes after being detained for wearing a pride shirt.

    All sorts of bad. His brother doesn’t believe it was natural causes.
