I didn't expect Sinema's announcement to have as much legs as it did, mainly because she will still caucus with the Dems. But she clearly rattled some cages. I never expected anything less because the Dems couldn't get to 52 and that just emboldened the Queen of Arizona x 10.

If the number was 53 instead, then Tester of Montana becomes the power broker and I sadly wouldn't expect him to react differently.

Steve Scalise will be the next SOTHOROTUS . Emphasis on the HOR.

McCarthy is a non-starter. He will lose 2 moderates for every looney he wins over on the far right. Scalise will get a sentimental advantage.

I could have told you before the election that if it was close, either Sinema or Manchin would flip. My money was on her, and I would have won any bet.

Repeating. Sinema did not flip. She's still in the Democratic caucus, just like her fellow independents Bernie Sanders and Angus King. The latter two are reliable Democratic votes, and she never was. If she thinks this will allow her to run and win in 2024 she's delusional. Arizona Democrats are perfectly willing to take the risk of losing the seat just to fuck her over good.

As much as Manchin is a PITA, he’s pretty reliable on judges.

I wish every politician voted his/her beliefs (or those of his/her constituents). Congress would be much better for it.

This notion that Pro-choice MUST = Pro gun-control and MUST = unrestrained spending and MUST = prioritizing climate change and MUST = every other party playbook axiom right down the line is ridiculous. Hell, you can't even audible from the playbook on social media without pushback from the locksteppers on each side.

Consistent 222-1 YES and 213-0 NO votes on measures that ostensibly are in the country's best interest are a sure sign something is fucked up.

I’m pretty sure that if I were covering the Senate, I would refer to the Senator from Maine as “Angus Young” on a weekly basis.

I feel like Kyrsten Sinema is leaning into peak middle-age hipster. Look at the raspberryish beret, the matching glasses and the quizzical look as she chugs sangria. She enjoys being a pain in the ass.
