Alabama, famously, never had a Heisman winner until Mark Ingram in 2009. Bryant's only Heisman winner was when he was at Texas A&M, with John David Crow in 1957.

I thought of him, too, but with Cannon and George Rogers. He left South Carolina a few years before Rogers won, though,.

Your Vikings-Falcons clue definitely helped me out, but it was still a guess.
Always got confused as a kid by my Bob Lee and Bob Berry football cards because they both seemed to bounce back and forth between Minnesota and Atlanta.
Probably some sort of Norm Van Brocklin connection since he coached both franchises during the era.

It was a miracle Bellino won even one. Maybe the least-accomplished Heisman winner.

    Sorry I'm late.

The answer is Tommy Prothro. Terry Baker at Oregon State in 1962, Gary Beban at UCLA in 1967.

Watching Cinderella Man, and fell down a rabbit hole: A subplot is Max Baer killing a boxer named Frankie Campbell in the ring.

In real life, Campbell’s younger brother would later win the NL MVP award. Name that brother, who obviously went by a different last name, or this would be too easy.

    Dolph Camilli.

The movie is excellent, but the portrayal of Baer is unfair. In reality, Baer felt terrible about Campbell’s death and put on benefit shows to help Campbell’s family. Baer’s son later said that his dad would cry when Campbell’s death was brought up.
