Apparently during the days of Outdoor Life magazine, prominent people could go on record by making the Outdoor Life Conservation Pledge.
As there is no more print version of Outdoor Life and I am not prominent outside of my own little world, I'd like to publicly made my declaration here:

"I pledge to protect and conserve the natural resources of America. I promise to educate future generations so they may become caretakers of our water, air, land and wildlife."

I further challenge every SJ member who is an outdoorsman (and anyone else) to do the same.

Is this Buffalo blizzard getting less coverage because an NFL game wasn’t affected?

Christmas? Skeleton staffs? National weather hangover (a whole week's worth of freeze stories preceding this)?

NPR has been doing a good job with it from the little I’ve been able to listen. They had a guy who opened his barber shop to let people ride out the storm.

Reads to me like Brookings and the Times want to harness Mawmaw's local expertise and help her navigate all that federal money sloshing around.

This is reflective of an emerging model for resilient, equitable rural communities: put local assets to creative use, unleash entrepreneurial activity, share the benefits widely and retain the value locally. Yet Shamokin is still at the beginning of what will require years of work and investment.

There’s no way foreign EnviroBot knows that American colloquialism, but kudos to whichever of her brainwashing handlers wrote that tweet. /Alma
