Random Thoughts the Third

Apparently, one of the sycamores in my backyard is the only thing more broken than Larry Bird's back.

Between the heavy rains last week, the strong winds yesterday, the current chill in the air and the fact that the city hasn't been by to pick up yard waste in at least a week, an impressive number of massive limbs are sitting on my front curb ... two of which are more than 10 feet long.

Any of you who think the ol' dead-tree edition is ... dead ... should get a look at this.

Next time, Mother Nature, could you at least see that where the limbs fall have better access to trucks and heavy machinery? Thanks.

 

Sycamores are pretty brittle trees. I have a cottonwood tree in my yard that constantly sheds small limbs year round.

 

A sycamore here in town is 177 years old.
