Did my first escape room today and it was pretty fun unlocking the clues and puzzles.

We had 1 hour to stop a runaway train (actual train car) and escape the station.

We made it out with 3 minutes to go.

Love escape rooms. Did a runaway train in Tahoe.

it’s all and having the right group. Makes it fun.

Two things I don't like: being closed up in tight spaces and riddles/puzzles.
    So not thanks.

Oddly enough, I do like murder mystery dinners.

Four years ago, our office of six people (a marketing dept) did one. Our boss was brilliant...and never should've managed people. He/she was the worst for collaboration.

15 minutes in, two people quit because of her/him. We all knew it would happen.

    We didn't make it.

Three of us went drinking after.

    Trauma.

Not my thing. Even a game of Clue is not my cup of tea.

My sister and her family loves these. My first one was in Redmond, Wash., when I visited her (she lives in Bremerton). We also got the Runaway Train room and ended up "crashing."
She came down to visit us in August and we went to one in nearby Solvang, which bills itself as the "Danish Capital of the U.S." and the touristy downtown area looks just like a Danish village. I bring that up because our room at that one was a Christmas-themed room with a "Nisse," which is a sort of Danish holiday elf who required the group to put the Christmassy room just as he wanted it before we got the combination to get out. We were successful on that one.
Generally, they're fun, but I definitely needed some experienced hands like my sis, her partner and my nephew.

We did it once with some friends. It was an Alcatraz prison cell and we were guards trying to find escaped inmates.

I think there were 10 things we had to do and we just got finished with nine before time was up. It was fun, though.

Did one a few years ago with university coworkers and as much as it makes my eyes roll to say "great team-building exercise!" it certainly was. We had four groups in different rooms and were all timed, I think my group was the second out.

Couldn't have been easy for a lot of those facilities to survive the pandemic when team-building at work went virtual.

Being closed up doesn't bother me too badly. Being closed up with 4-5 other people, along with trying to solve a riddle-puzzle-escape scenario, isn't my gig. We did one a few years ago and after 3-4 clues I sat down and watched. I was listening and thinking ahead about clues but I wasn't going to spend another 40 minutes acting frantic or jiggling-joggling every book, nook and whatever else was in there.

Let me take a crowbar and a sledgehammer in there, and I can get you out in minutes.

Did it with co-workers five years ago. Absolutely no urge to do it again. It's good for the "cheerleaders" in your group.
