Everyone cleared out for the film, in a way. Disney pushed Black Panther 2 to November, partly because they now own Avatar, but also partly because of Boseman's death, I imagine. Black Adam would have gotten absolutely curbstomped by A2.

Avatar also charges something like $25 for IMAX and $20 for 3D. That’s in Cleveland. Who knows what it costs in a big city.

Was thinking about this earlier today … last movie I saw in a movie theater was Star Wars Episode 9 (Rise of Skywalker), three years ago. Don’t see myself going back anytime soon with everything going to streaming so quickly.

Speaking of, the sequel is another fantastic little "whodunit?" flick. Nothing revolutionary or Oscar-winning - the first wasn't either - but just a very satisfying two hours of a movie. (It probably doesn't hurt that between Janelle Monae, Madelyn Cline and especially Kate Hudson, everyone is bringing the heat in a way that you don't see a whole lot more, thanks to all these sterile blockbuster movies.)

I was fired up to see “Dune” on the big screen, but then COVID pushed the release date back several times, some theaters reopened and some didn’t …

Watched it at home earlier this year instead, via streaming.

    Loved it.
I thought it was pretty disappointing....despite the lovely ladies.

I've seen some people complain of diminishing returns on the format. Like, Johnson really loves the mid-flick, "no really but you don't know THIS happened" kind of thing. I also think that the ending is a bit flatter. The first movie is definitely better as a result. But, everyone is clearly having a lot of fun in the second movie, and it has an infectious kind of humor to it as a result.
