Maybe I’m dumb, big how is Trump supposed to be Speaker if he’s not in Congress? How and why would that be legal and work?

IMHO, yes. If we saw anything in the midterms, the tide is slowly turning against the MAGA movement. The Beltway media will keep MTG and Bobert in the news, buy what they have to offer gets sillier by the day.

There is no requirement that the Speaker be a member of the House. So it's something that could happen in theory, though it never will.
