Pious Tony probably there to keep Inveterate Gambler Al under control if the game goes south.

    Inveterate or degenerate? Or both?

Man, Monday night is the only game that half interests me.

Now, if any of these are a one-score game late…

This has a very round of 32 feel to it.

Speaking of Uncle Al, MASN was showing Game 2 of the 1983 World Series last night as one of its Orioles' classics, and man, that booth of Al Michaels, Howard Cosell and Earl Weaver was perfect. Weirdest moment was when the camera lingered on Mike Boddicker for a second and Howard just off-handedly says "nice chiseled features on that young man." /threadjack

Giants at Vikings was entertaining during the regular season. That should be a good one again.

Chargers at Jaguars seems like it could be fun, too.

San Fran-Seattle is just a massive talent mismatch, though the weather could equalize it somewhat. Really too bad Detroit couldn't have slid in there because the Lions would have at least been tougher to play against.

Miami-Buffalo with a healthy Tua would have been great, but without Tua? Ugh.

Baltimore-Cincy with the version of Lamar that we had early this year could be great, but we don't know what we're going to get out of him even if he does play.

I like the other three games.

I think Jax-Chargers is VERY intriguing. Giants-Minnesota should be interesting as well. And if Lamar plays, Baltimore-Cincinnati could be fun.

A mild threadjack. The auto service place I was at this morning had Stephen A.'s show on the TV in the waiting area. In a discussion of the NFL, S.A. referred to Washington's football team as "the Commodores" more than once. I think this name is a big improvement and should be adopted immediately.

Doesn't solve the "how do we get this into a one-column hed" problem .... though I guess 'Dores works.

Not sure they're ready to sail on from Commanders quite yet.

They could call their stadium the Brick House.
