Downtown Lancaster has more than its share of high-end grub spots, too.

Funny, I met a college buddy for drink at BAR in New Haven in the summer and then took him to Louis' Lunch. As soon as he found out there were no condiments, he was like, "Fuck this."

BTW, finally took the plunge and had Sally's Pizza in New Haven, which many people consider the best in the country. Stood in line for 45 minute on a freezing day in the middle of January --- after watching my nephew compete in an indoor track meet at Coxe Cage -- and lemme tell ya, it was underwhelming. It was fine, but I've had a lot better cheese pizza than that.

That cools my urge to hit New Haven someday on a pizza tour.

Another town like that we have hit is Old Forge, Pa., home of Old Forge pizza. They have like 20 pizzerias/Italian restaurants in this little Scranton suburb.

What NYC needs, Ragu, is a good Altoona pizza joint.

At least Pabucketlist.com includes a bucket for after you see that (or worse, eat it).

Best burger in America, according to me.

Agree on Sally's. Samesame for Pepe's.

    B / B- pies with A+ reputations.

Schwabl's was great when I was a kid. The waitresses didn't even write your order down, they just remembered it. Great beef on weck, fries and German potato salad. We'd go every so often, it was a treat, and would always go in when I was home from college/North Nowhere over Christmas vacation.

It's about 20 minutes from the house I gre3w up in. Tried to go there last summer but it was closed that week. They were also closed for quite some time several years ago when a car plowed into the side of the place and knocked it off the foundation.

Lots of great places for beef on weck in WNY. The BarBill and Wally's in my little hometown are two of the best.

Can we please remove that above pic? I didn't think we were allowed to post photos of war crimes here.

I dig the old-time vibe at Schwabl's. Nearly impossible to replicate.

But I will try both these places.

    Thanks!

I can't tell if it's a before or after pic.
