    Let’s do the easy thing:

What has Santos said that is true?

As a matter of plain reality, opposing US aid to Ukraine is supporting Russia and Putin. Anyone can say it's because of priorities, or the deficit or any other thing, but that is the real world effect of that position. Those who hold it must own it

Why are (Democratic) citizen/voters of Santos' district not filing a tsunami firestorm of lawsuits challenging his citizenship and even his personal existence as a human being, working on the presumption that NOTHING zero zip zilch nada, etc etc, he says is true?

He shouldn't be even able to utter one word in Congress without being shouted down by a Cassandra chorus howling, "YOU LIE."

    That is absurd.

There are a host of reasons why someone might oppose U.S. taxpayers funding Ukraine's fight (or more accurately, the U.S. adding to its debt). It doesn't mean that person " is supporting Russia and Putin."

What is sad is that people say crap like that and think the wide paint brush demonization actually is constructive.

It's typical. Identify a problem. Propose a solution. Others oppose it for all kinds of legitimate reasons like your solution is going to be ineffective, expensive, unfunded, wasteful, saddle all of us with debt, etc. And the response is, "You are in favor cancer." Or "You support homelessness." Or "You support Putin."

Without aid, Ukraine will be conquered by Russia. Opposing aid is saying a person would rather let Ukraine be subjugated than spend that money on aid. That is supporting Putin, period. That's a direct consequence of the policy. Crocodile tears about the position change nothing. It would be the same if someone proposed direct military intervention. They'd have to own willingness to increase the risk of World War III to its highest level ever. Absolutely foreseeable consequences have to be owned.

    They're coming for your guns!
They're coming for your gasoline-powered cars!
They're coming for your gas stoves!
They're coming for your propane grills!
They're coming for your toilets because they use too much water when they flush!

I eagerly await the Toilet Police raiding my house because we have two (!) toilets that flush too much. (Aside: A second toilet in a house is a game-changer, even if it's a two-person household.)

The same people would’ve opposed Lend-Lease, probably more zealously, given the enemy.

In re your aside: When I was nearing my wedding day many years ago, one of my relatively few married co-workers gave me some advice. "The key to a successful marriage," she said, "is separate bathrooms." Decades later, can't say she was wrong.
