Purdy was perfectly OK today. With the rest of that offense, he should be. That's a loaded semi the 49ers put out there on both sides of the ball. They'll take some beating.

So that's three playoff games involving QBs who began the season as third-stringers.
One of them is really good. What if, by the way, Brock Purdy leads the Niners to a Super Bowl title? Are they really going to bench him come September?

    No way that would happen.

If they win, you can’t. As it is, you have a quarterback controversy going into camp. Five wins to close the season including two against playoff teams and then a playoff win. That’s a helluva resume. You have to give him a chance to win that job.

I have never seen anything from Jimmy Garropolo that would indicate he could beat out Brock Purdy for the job today.

    Yeah, that's unfortunate.

Incidentally, this shit is getting away from the Chargers fast.

Didn't that happen to Nick Foles?

Agreed that it would be near impossible to bench a Super Bowl-winning QB. It might be weird to be Trey Lance right about now. That rookie contract is ticking and there may not be a second deal anywhere.

    Trey Lance was the starter.

You're absolutely right. I ... well, you know.
