I wonder what the surveys say because Dungy has always been Mr Niceguy and uninteresting so it’s like I like Filet Mignon while everyone else likes rump roast. Look at the rest of NBC team Simms, Garrett; NFL network has Schrager, others that are more energetic and fun.

Even if he is/was a kook, one could do worse for inspiration on the "How do I diddle them there words?" question ... Summing up the second volume of his The Civil War: A Narrative in 1963, he had this to say about some rather prominent political characters of the day:

"I am obligated also to the governors of my native state and the adjoining states of Arkansas and Alabama for helping to lesson my sectional bias by reproducing, in their actions during several of the years that went into the writing of this volume, much that was least admirable in the position my forebears occupied when they stood up to Lincoln. I suppose, or at least fervently hope, it is true that history never repeats itself, but I know from watching these three gentlemen that it can be terrifying in its approximations, even when the reproduction – deriving, as it does, its scale from the performers – is in miniature."

Dude is just wearing grills so he sounds a little garbled, but he was coherent.

With a night game every night, there weren't going to be three top flight matchups for prime time, especially once the league dealt Bucs-Cowboys to ESPN and Monday night. Also, one cannot argue that last night's game as a game was more than worthy of its time slot. If the announcers annoy you, turn the sound off. That's how I got through the World Cup.

It's like it never occurred to the "especially worldly" set that people from, e.g., the heart of Louisiana might exhibit bits and pieces of a niche patois.

I fully expect Garoppolo - again - to be out of San Francisco, turning 49ers training camp into a battle of the media darlings between Purdy and Trey Lance.

In 1990 I was in Bermuda and was listening to an England match on the radio. Color man had a Liverpool accent that made Ringo Starr sound like Laurence Olivier. Did not really understand anything he said, although I'm sure it was perfectly coherent.

And the only other football NBC carries is Notre Dame. Was that team unavailable?
