Well yeah, but it would be stupid no matter who it was to.

The right team won that one, and the Eagles won't be able to play their C game next week, either.

Don't even know why you have anyone run a route like that - if you are going to check down - make it to a back heading up field - not a TE to the sideline.

Pencil in the Dal/TB winner-San Francisco game for the late Sunday slot as well.

A TE to the sideline would be fine. One yard past the sticks.

"But they'll be covering that route tight!"

Well no shit, Sherlock. It's 4th-and-the season. At some point you gotta make a fucking play.

I'm always reluctant to bash too much, because it's hard to tell watching it live what reads were open and what ones weren't. Hockenson might have been his third read and the others were all covered, for all we know.
Here's the replay. Slow it down and it looks like K.J. Osborn (No. 17, the rear receiver at the top of the formation) was coming open on a post over the middle, but there are two safeties that you can't see. I think at least one of them was creeping on the right hash to help with that route. The other was covering deep. Cousins probably still needs to try to make that throw to Osborn, in that situation, but it's possible that the checkdown to Hockenson was the only viable option.

Of course, it's equally possible that the play design was to run the DBs deep, get Hockenson one-on-one and hope he could break a tackle. If he gets away from the defender he certainly picks up the first down. And if that's the play design on fourth-and-8 with the season on the line then, yes, it is idiotic.

Doesn’t matter. You assumed, incorrectly, that upscale restaurants had only recently come to that city. I was trying to broaden your understanding of the local cuisine options.

This isn't even top 5 of tough Vikings playoff losses.

Yeah I know all that. The Giants probably had every route past the sticks covered.

So what? On 4th/the season, you force it.
