That seems to be the case. Which, you know, good for him. I don't blame dudes for looking out for themselves, especially after watching Deshaun Watson get $230 million off a thousand sexual misconduct lawsuits and a year off. But at least show up for the game. He couldn't possibly have looked any more pouty or more disinterested than Zach Wilson a few weeks back.

If you’re Jackson and plays with no guarantees and you blow your knee out like RG3 you get lifetime free cocktails and squat doodle else. No answer is no if you’re not close to good to go.

I wanted the Vikes to win because they have no D and 49 ers would torch them. NYG have best shot to beat PHI because they know them so well and Jones is looking very good.

The problem, which I'm sure guys like him have been told and don't believe, is the Watson contract is an outlier that is almost certain to never happen again. Just because the Browns did something stupid like that doesn't mean any other team will. He can keep believing he'll get something like that but he's going to be sadly disappointed.

I wonder if he would take Aaron Rodgers' deal and hit the market again just before turning 30. But there are other contracts out there that would be easy to mirror that aren't a slap in the face except he seems to be making it one

What, IMO, will be fascinating is how the Ravens will handle Lamar Jackson's contract talks, while the New York Giants handle Daniel Jones' contract talks. The comparisons and contrasts - as the last 24 hours can attest - are and will continue to be fascinating. Going into the season, we were certain one was going to be seriously paid, and we questioned the other's ability to get anything done at this level.

And, now ... five months later ...

I miss the forums at 506. I didn’t participate, but they had a wealth of information.

The archives are still there but the discussion switched to Discord, which I find less user friendly.

That would be interesting just for the multiple decoy options. Also an interesting experiment in humility for those individuals.

Beckham only likes suiting up for the playoffs, though. Screw all that hard work to get there.

John Mara has already indicated he's backing up the Brinks truck for Jones and Barkley both. The logic of the Ravens franchising Jackson is even more overwhelming today, because whether he recognizes it or not, it's now a good deal for him, too. He needs a redemption story arc before he can really cash in.

My brother-in-law, a big Giants fan, suggested to me that the team should give Jones a long-term deal and franchise Barkley. Of course, that would piss off Barkley, but I think it is the right call. Barkley has already had injuries and running backs just don't stay at a high level very long. Also, the franchise tag is a lot cheaper for running backs.

Maybe they can sign both long term, but that would make it very difficult to add other pieces and the Giants still need some upgrades.

You're right, but I was merely passing along reports on Mara's thinking. It's an easy trap to fall into. When healthy, Barkley's very good.

Yes, though this is the last year of the contract and things might change going forward, though Fox will continue with the NFC title game and CBS with the AFC. I think you'll see generally Fox get NFC playoff games and CBS AFC ones and NBC gets a mix and match.

That Bengals - Bills game will be a good watch regardless how it goes. I think I like the Bengals.

I loved the Bengals last week, but the performance and/or injuries of the offensive line has given me pause.
