So it’s been about eight hours, and before I end up forgetting, the answer to my quarterback question is Cotton Davidson.

He was a backup to Unitas with the Colts.

Backed up Dawson, albeit briefly for one game with the ‘62 Texans where he punted and didn’t play quarterback.

Was the backup to Tom Flores with the Raiders. Flores is a Hall of Fame coach, hence the trick question .

Was the third stringer behind Daryle Lamonica and Hall of George Blanda on the ‘68 Raiders.

Also was an assistant with his alma mater Baylor Bears in ‘59.

This will go fast because there are only a limited number of possible answers. And, as a hint, it's not the obvious answer.

Which US president played in an exhibition game against a barnstorming House of David team?

arghhhhh… I should have guessed that…I was trying to think of guys who went by obvious nicknames….completely overlooked cotton. Also, had no idea he had been a first round draft pick. Also, also, RIP…looks like he died just before Christmas.

It was LBJ. He played first base in a game against the House of David in the hill country back in 1937 or 1938.
