We had to break out the tornado procedures at work today. It was more precaution than anything and a good time for a live drill, but it did get nasty for a while.

Big boy/girl storm about to hit Denver and the Colorado Front Range. Could see up to a foot of snow, a rarity in January.

Southwest Colorado getting absolutely slammed as well where they really needed it. My aunt said on FB it's the most snow she has seen in the 47 years she has been living down there. And it's only mid-January.

Yeah. Micro Jr.'s judge is retiring and moving to Costa Rica, was supposed to leave on Wednesday but has already been told to rebook because his flight probably won't get out of DIA.

Yeah, we see this stuff in March/April. Not January.

We are on track to get 5-8 inches of snow tonight. It hit quick and people were caught unprepared. There’s a small valley near my house, five cars are stuck at the bottom, unable to get up either hill.

I am off work tomorrow because of expected wind. Between 7-10 a.m., the NWS is saying we could see winds of 80-85 mph.

Seriously, though: How are the stranded people?

We have nothing yet, but my kids' schools already called it off for tomorrow.

I walked down to make sure everyone was OK. They were. No wrecks. Just spinning tires.

All but one had family picking them up at the top of the hill. One lady wouldn’t get out of her car - even though the podiatrist and his wife who have a house in the valley invited her in until her husband could get there.

We are up to seven inches on my back deck. Looking at the camera at my cabin in the Ozarks, we’ve gotten more than a foot there. Wish I was there.

Quiet here, though we're supposed to get stock show/subzero temps by the weekend. I can deal with just about any weather -- except the bitter cold. The absolute worst.

They forecasted flurries all day and the state highways here are now all covered.

As often happens, it all came down too fast for it to melt. No biggie for me because I grew up driving in more wintry climes (and loved it).
