Our RV park in Bradenton/Palmetto is having a run of COVID cases, so many that people are staying away from weekly activities or wearing masks again. This variant is so contagious, even for the fully vaxxed, and the average age in here is the target audience for the worst-case situation.

We're good but feel like it's got us surrounded right now, as everyone around our motorhome has had a bout since Christmas.

Well, I guess the odds were going to catch up to me sooner or later. I caught the bug. I've been vaxxed four times, including the covalent last November, so I'm as protected as I could have been. The good thing is that it really feels to me very much like a standard case of bronchitis. The only nonstandard symptom I've had was some night sweats.

Sitting here sipping on a bourbon, honey and lemon hot toddy. Good for what ails you.

At least I'm able to completely isolate from my wife, who is staying over at her best friend's house. That's one big worry I don't have to face.

Welcome to the plague zone. Now I just need to dodge the long Covid thing.

I’m glad your wife is safe. I know you’ve worried about giving it to her. Rest up and take the time you need.

My wife and I both caught COVID right after Christmas. We are both in our 70s and fully vaccinated and boosted. On the 26th, she started to feel like she was coming down with a cold, then I felt a little off the next day. Because she has asthma, she went to the neighborhood walk-in place for a test. The quickie test showed her negative, so we figured it was just a cold. The place sent a second, more comprehensive test off to a lab, then three days later, she she got a text that she was positive. I immediately got a quickie test, which showed me positive. Fortunately, our symptoms stayed mild and we stopped feeling off a few days later. It's frustrating because we still mask up anytime we are in stores or anywhere there are crowds, but that's the reality of COVID now.

Girlfriend tested positive yesterday. I tested right after and had no trace of a positive on my strip. Infectious disease researcher friend says if I had it, my viral load would be so high that it’d pop up on the test right away.

    This virus is so random.
