Groundhog Day is a fictional movie and its events do not necessarily align with real-life conditions. The film is set in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, which is located in western Pennsylvania. In reality, the sun rises between 7:00 and 7:30 AM in Punxsutawney on February 2nd, which is close to the average sunrise time for that location in February. However, in the movie, the timing of the sunrise may have been depicted differently for creative or artistic reasons, and may not reflect actual sunrise times in Punxsutawney.

Saw Banshees tonight. Enjoyed it thoroughly, but it didn’t feel like best picture timber to me.

    Vengeance.

Excellent movie that you never heard of.

BJ Novak's directorial debut. He also wrote and stars. Ashton Kutcher shows up in a magnetic role.

You don't see the ending coming, but you should.

Saw Aftersun, the indie feature about a 11-year-old girl from Scotland who goes on what turns out to be a last vacation with her divorced father. Not one for the ages as hyped but still really touching. (It is really quiet and slow and about character moments and you should know that before going in.)

I thought it was really well done. The ending really hit hard.

I saw Banshees last night, and I thought Aftersun was the better film. The academy says that’s a minority opinion.

I keep meaning to go see Babylon but I can’t find the energy.

Casa de los Babys - John Sayles' slice of life at an adoption center in Mexico City calls out the racket that can be international adoption while exposing how culturally isolated most Americans can be. It's engaging viewing. One word of warning: If you are not fairly fluent in Spanish, you may want to turn on the English subtitles. At least half of the film is in Spanish.

Dumb, but does give me a chance to again highly recommend becoming an AMC A-List member for anyone who primarily goes to AMC theaters. I think the price differs per area. NYC 25 bucks, and that's three movies a week, no extra cost for better formats, and it's being excluded from the seat pricing as well. In NYC the normal ticket at my theaters is 18 and Imax is 27. So being able to see 12 a month for 25 bucks is one of my better paid memberships.

"Gone Baby Gone", finally. Very good. Definitely doesn't tie everything up in a bow at the end.
