I’ve had chicken and waffles before and it’s meh. Probably had to do more with the restaurant/chef than anything else. I’d definitely try it again.

Sorry, I don't mean to single you out, but ignorance of racial stereotypes helps perpetuate them, and ignorance is a choice. It's the 21st century.

Here's Joe Rogan to help illustrate my point:

Next time you have the chance, try a place like Pies 'n Thighs (or your local equivalent). https://piesnthighs.com/

There seems to be a version everywhere.

If the chicken and waffles don't do it for you, get the chicken biscuit: fried chicken on a biscuit with hot sauce and honey.

    Have fun!

There is not an American who isn't living under a rock, in this day and age (actually in the day and age of anytime in the last 100+ years), who hears "fried chicken and watermelon" and doesn't think it is someone trying to say "black people food!" (if they aren't using a racial slur for black people in their heads).

From the early 70s until the late 80s, the shop in which my father and maternal grandfather had their small tool-and-die business was a very tired concrete block structure* with nary a stitch of insulation and, for several years, no air conditioning (there was a window unit in the little office). One summer when I was in my middle teens and working there, there came this god-awful hot stretch of several 100-degree-plus days. The shop had this old refrigerator in it for soft drinks and the like, so one day my grandfather brought in a watermelon from his garden for us to have during our afternoon break. The six of us went through that watermelon in a skinny minute, so in very short order my grandfather was bringing (and we were going through) two full-size watermelons a day.

*Here's picture of it in its current state. It looked a little better back then ...

    Great story. Great photo.

When I was working in the foundry - 125+ degrees on the floor when we were pouring, even in a Minnesota winter with the windows wide - I'd have killed a man with my weak little hands for chilled watermelon.

And, ya think I haven't looked some things up myself? You think I didn't do it back in 2013, when Tiger Woods/fried chicken thing came up? Did I not post that I try to know something about things before posting, and that, yeah, I might've tried to enlighten myself a bit without your "help"?

No one on this site needs an extended list of links put up for them. We all know how to do what you just did, and this post is an insult to anyone who would even be willing to engage about it (like me). It's the people who won't who need your "help."

And my points stand. No one needs to show me how unignorant they are (probably because they know how to look up stuff, more than because that's how they may actually be, or because some one else's points are invalid).

And I would bet that's not the case.

I've always known of the existence of chicken and waffles.

I'll eat both individually if they're on the same plate.

Now, let's see what the YouTube says ...

What is your point? I think you need to get off your high horse.
