    I am not intrepid enough to wander into the gnostic gospels. I am not weird enough yet for mysticism.
    I read a bit of the lost Book of Jude several years ago and it creeped me out.

    I don’t think western religion looks at God that way at all. I think secular humanists may frame God that way as a kind of criticism of western religion.

    Yahweh lacks self-confidence. Yahweh wants to borrow the car. Yahweh is sullen. Yahweh is locked in the bathroom again. Yahweh lashes out at the dinner table. Yahweh needs a hug.

    I'll sign on to this, and push back against the other characterizations. Lots of need to interpret beyond a surface reading, but to me that's the point.

    I think you can get consensus on "divinely inspired," but "infallible" takes a beating even on its own terms.

    Plenty of mistranslation woes over the centuries, and a lot of the Old Testament is undone by the New.
