I heard there’s some Irish guy named Brady who also played there.

Can someone explain to me why live-ball 5-yard defensive penalties all result in automatic first downs? Offensive penalties are recoverable. Defensive penalties have consequences that seem very severe. Give them that play over, half the distance to the goal. The automatic first down ends the game.

One argument I’ve been seeing today that makes sense
Too many defensive penalties come with automatic first downs
If the penalty made it third-and-3 instead of a first down people wouldn’t be so upset
And while they’re at it, change pass interference to the college rule — 15 yards max

Receiver and DB are in the end zone 35 yards down, and the DB just levels the guy.

I'm offended whenever someone gives the cast of Scrubs airtime, so you're good.

Nice answer by Hurts. Reminded me of another reason why if you think a QB has a chance of being a starter, you may as well draft him in the first round - you get an extra year before he's an FA if he ends up being decent. Hurts is for real.

I’ll defer to the perpetrator. It looked like a weak call to me, but if he said it was a penalty, I have no argument.
