More upset that some guy wrote FUCK YOUR PRAYERS than some guy shot up a school and some other guy shot up a school and some other guy shot up a school and some other guy shot up as school ...

He’s performing for his base the same as the Republicans who glom onto cultural Christianity. Not sure why I’m supposed to find either flavor inspiring.

    It's a death cult, but it's OK because he's wearing a necktie.

I don't know how many times this needs to be spelled out ... but it doesn't have to be one or the other. It can be both.

There was one man who, after surviving the Hiroshima bomb when he was in town on a business trip, got home to Nagasaki just in time for that one. The world's only* double 'hibakusha,' such is the Japanese term for an atomic bomb survivor. I thought about him last night.

Tsutomu Yamaguchi: The Man Who Survived Both Atomic Bombs | Tokyo Weekender

*Others from his company probably qualified but just weren't officially recorded. Also, amazingly, he lived until 2010, to the age of 93.

Hmm. Words someone is uncomfortable with vs. three dead and five wounded in East Lansing.

Those are both on totally equal ground.

Doesn't change a thing I said. You can bust your nuts trying to twist it, but a fact's a fact. You can condemn both.

Nope. The Dems control both houses.

Although as I mentioned last night, several leading Dems have issued touchy-feely thoughts and prayers statements. The metaphor "we throw our strong arms around you" appears to be one of the approved themes.

So I wouldn't be surprised if Puri is leaned upon to soft pedal his remarks. Don't want to pee in the punchbowl of the Kumbayah singalongs.

I'm sure he won't be officially censured, if for no other reason than MAGGAT Nation is screaming for it. But I bet in the back rooms they put pressure on him to tiptoe it back.

Both bombs were airbursts that provided maximum heat and blast, but little significant radiation fallout, unlike the ground-based atomic tests in the 1950s and 1960s.

EMP is a fourth effect that didn't exist in the 1940s because transistors hadn't been invented yet.

No nuts busted here. You can condemn both. Just like you can condemn a parking ticket and murder. Or jaywalking and assault with a deadly weapon.

Where the brain synapses and shred of a conscience generally kick in is with the level of condemnation each deserves. And also, whether it's remotely wise to compare saying "fuck your prayers" to the cold-blooded murder of three innocent people.
