If I did my search properly, Alabama is the first SEC team since Kentucky in 1955-56 to win ≥ 3 league games by ≥ 40 points in a single season. Those Wildcacts had four such wins.
The record is held by another UK team. The 1951-52 version earned nine conference wins by ≥ 40. Which is absurd.

We were about two inches away from an all-timer.

Dores hold for the final shot and hit a floater in the lane to go up two with 0.8 seconds left. Auburn inbounds with no timeouts remaining, Vandy grabs it and the clock hits zero - but the refs won’t let the teams leave. They are reviewing something, but never clue in the TV guys. After ages pass, it finally emerges that they somehow called a foul on Auburn and 0.3 seconds remain. (At this news Bruce Pearl has a red-faced come-apart, despite the stay of execution he’s just been granted.) Vandy kid misses the front end of a 1-and-1. AU’s guy grabs it and heaves it the length of the court, somehow ahead of the clock. Back iron.

I wish my team could score 40 before the second half was more than half completed.

Can one of those mesothelioma lawyers get me financial compensation for having to endure Joe Lunardi for an entire segment of a Feb. 19 game? Enough.

I hear you. But since ESPN loves stirring the pot ... . And what he just said during a broadcast otherwise originating out of Raleigh is considered fighting words in these parts.

It's a banner sports year at Tulane, as the men's basketball team is now 17-7 and on a 5-game winning streak. The only thing that matters for getting into the tournament for the first time since the mid-90s, though, is beating Houston, either Wednesday night or in the conference tourney. If they win every other game, but lose to Houston twice, it's probably the NIT.

Wild fact I just noticed: Two years ago, Oregon State had two Q4 Ls. The Beavers made the field and went all the way to the regional final. Last year, they went 3-28.
