The defense is that the J6 committee already had their chance to selectively edit the tapes to tell their side of the story and books must be balanced.

Of course it is. Folks on the right hate read on the daily. News organizations purposely try to polarize people. It makes money.

Whatever emotion you want to affix it. For me, people hate the guy - for good reason - and love reading about him to simmer in it. I’m tired of him, and it, personally.

News organizations abjectly failed in treating the Trump freakshow like any other presidency.

I mean the azzhole is still ranting about two perfect calls - don't tell me this sells. This is more beleaguering than any Chuck E. Cheese playdate.

If the goal of releasing the raw recordings was to provide access for accused individuals to exonerate themselves, why would you ever turn the recordings over to a journalism outlet?

Just send them across the street to the LoC and let those wrongly accused defendants and their lawyers comb through them.

If, on the other hand, the goal is to create a re-edited, re-imagined 1/6 counternarrative on America's most popular, least trustworthy kayfabe cable news operation, then mission accomplished.

Sure. But he's also the worst, most corrupt, most destructive president in the history of the Republic.

And he's (sort of) running for president again.

    Should we not cover him?

Eh, David is usually looking out for David #1. When he took office, he left Providence with $180M in debt. His father was a mob lawyer with a not-so-great reputation, and his brother was indicted for financial and case-fixing crimes in the mid-2000s. The Globe noted that he probably actually left because his path to leadership in the House is now blocked by younger politicians, and the senators are older, but not that much older, and much more popular.
