    [​IMG]Red Owens (Brooklyn) got 4 hits (4/14/1905) against the Phillies.
    [​IMG]Left fielder Earl Hersh is the only player to debut in the cleanup spot for the Milwaukee Braves. He is also the only hitter to debut with two doubles in the 4th spot.
    [​IMG]Five players hit a home run hitting fourth in their debuts: Frank Welch (1919), Joe Mack (1945), Ben Taylor (1951), Dave Schneck (1972), and Jay Gainer (1993).

    Only because the first serious book I read as a child was The Babe Ruth Story: Pitcher Urban Shocker had all of one HR in his career but batted .209 with 89 R, 70 RBI and 139 BB. A late bloomer whose 187-117 record would make him a HoF candidate today. Maybe. Four straight 20-win seasons for the Browns. One of the last of the legal spitballers, 19 wins for 1926 Yankees but made only one start, a loss, in seven game WS loss to St. Louis. Won 18 in 1927 but didn't get a start in sweep of Pittsburgh due to worsening heart condition that forced him to sleep sitting up. Died of effects of pneumonia at 37.
