Looks like the Preds are determined to Trotz out an entirely new team next year.

Kings fans won’t be happy, but business is business.

It was the Boston first they just acquired. It's going to be pick 31 or 32, so not a huge deal.

Supposedly the deepest draft in decades this year. ... The players at the end of the first round could feel more like what you would typically get in the 20s.

True, but that player taken there is still years away from contributing at the NHL level in most cases. There are probably three years tops left in the Ovechkin window, and Sandin is a piece who can plug in immediately and help. He's not a top-pair D, but he's young and has plenty to prove. I like the move but would feel much differently if that pick was in the top 10 or 15.

Caps just shipped out Lars Eller to Colorado for a 2025 second rounder. It was time. Center depth is now Kuznetsov, Strome, Backstrom and Dowd.

There must be a league-wide conspiracy to prevent the Ducks from finishing 32nd and getting the best odds to draft Bedard. Every team they're getting ready to play is trading a lot of players. Monday against Chicago, two Black Hawks weren't even on the roster, which was printed in the afternoon. PA announcer: "Penalty on the Black Hawks No. 25 ........................ two minutes for tripping." They won at Washington last Wednesday and have the Caps again tonight at home.

What an underwhelming return after months and months.
