Wings got almost as much for Hronek
Ironically, the Coyotes picked Chychrun with the 16th overall pick in 2016, acquired from the Red Wings in a pick switch for taking Pavel Datsyuk’s contract
The Wings took Dennis Cholowski with the 20th overall pick but also got a second round pick and selected Hronek

Hronek was a really good trade. With Moritz Seider and Detroit still being a year or two away from being in the mix, the focus should have been on sticking to the rebuild plan. I thought Yzerman way overpaid for Larkin, FWIW. I am a little surprised, I think of Yzerman as a guy who gets what he wants.

Jesus Christ are the Canucks the dumbest organization in the league.

Although I see Hextsll just acquired Grandlumd and that contract for a second so there is a little competition

There was a tweet yesterday somewhere about how Hextall went on a bit of a heater waiving a few of his early acquisitions. I don’t think there is much planning or patience there right now. Burke is eminence grise of their management, and he’s not known for those qualities.

David Poile Appreciation Week is going swimmingly. Preds didn’t even have to retain any salary.

That's a hometown surcharge. Larkin is from the Detroit suburbs and played college at Michigan and held the captaincy. Losing him would have been unacceptable to a fanbase that has already been put through a lot the last five years.

You could definitely say getting their doors blown off on back to back nights in Ottawa probably put an end to any delusions of making a playoff push, but this team is at least watchable, so the next month or so is almost entirely house money. And it looks like they fleeced the Canucks out of a first-round pick, so a very good day for Detroit.

    Boston, it is. A protected '24 first-rounder and a '25 fourth-rounder.

Bertuzzi was finished as a Red Wing when he refused to get vaccinated. When asked about it Steve Yzerman said: “That’s not what I would have done.”
Only Holland picks left are Larkin, Rasmussen, Veleno, Lindstrom and, unless they can get a bag of used pucks for him, Zadina
