Two years apart definitely wasn't communicated in the show. That makes a little more sense.

Finally got to watch. Pretty much a reset episode. Had to get in the back story of why they're back together, close the old quest, lay out the new quest.

Fun, but no real story advancement. To steal the old term around here, but less sarcastic, "it sets up the rest of the season nicely."

I'm not super versed in the animated stuff, so had to find out the significance of the "hyperspace whale" things the kid saw. Long story short, it appears to be a strong indication General Thrawn is going to be a player in this season.

That is possible, or maybe just a quick reference or cameo, but their paths will intersect at some point. There was talk a while ago about having all the shows tie into a big crossover, sort of like Avengers in the movies or Defenders on the Marvel Netflix shows. Hopefully, more like the former than the latter.

They showed no back story. It was bad. It was recycled paint by numbers “here’s Mando’s quest, here’s baby Yoda looking funny and interacting with a cute creature for a meme.”

It appears they dont want to mess with that formula and its a successful one, but it also feels like any chance this show has a meaninfgul story development is dead

Eh, this seems over the top. Favreau and Filoni have been excellent running this show. It could always drop off, sure. But I won't make that judgement off of one episode, after two years off, when clearly they were concerned a large portion of the audience didn't know what happened in BoBF.

I haven't watched yet, but the last actual season of the Mandalorian, especially the last half, was some of the best Star Wars ever. You get a little mucked up with the Boba Fett stuff, but it is going to have to be a huge drop-off from the last season to be really disappointed. Might be hard to match, but that is a different story.

I still dont know what happened in BOBF nor why Grogu is back. They showed none of that in this episode.

The entire holy shit Skywalker moment from last season feels meaningless since it was resolved off screen. So if something meaningful happens again, why should fans invest?

    It was not resolved offscreen.

Go to Google and type in "The Mandalorian."
Then click on what pops up.

It’s almost like they want viewers to watch the other shows. I can understand why that might not be for everyone. (The three episodes of BoBF that are really Mandalorian episodes are all excellent, FWIW).

So, there is the option of watching those to get caught up.

The whole thing now is building a whole universe of related Star Wars shows, like Marvel, DC, etc.

Ha! Saw/did this earlier today. But it was typing in Grogu. Fun!
