Mandalorian running thread

Fun episode. Lots of backstory on Mandalore and the factions. Good action (though I might need to watch again with the lights out. It was dark, lightning wise). Din training Grogu to be a Mandalorian. And Grogu clearly more advanced with training from Luke.

But mostly, with the quest seemingly already complete and the saber back with Bo Katan, this season’s arc isn’t going to be what we were led to believe.

Assume the imperials are still coming for the kid.

 

Bo Katan may have used the saber, but she still has to win it from Din for that to matter.

 

I might have jumped the gun. Thought the crab robot thing took it from Din in battle, then she won in battle with crab thing. I am prepared to be absolutely wrong on that.

 

You could be right. I hadn't thought of it that way. My guess is they are going to use it to create conflict between them, so for now it still belongs to Din.

 

Certainly makes a lot of sense.

Assume Moff Gideon will be popping up again soon.

 

Din has the Darksaber. There’s a shot of him picking it up and putting it on his belt.

 

Theory withdrawn! Yeah, that was my fault for trying to watch while monitoring work Slack. What I described would be a bit too easy anyway.

 

Repulsorlifts. Like hyperdrive and The Force itself, you must not question them.

 

This is where I am on this too. They will fight the bad guys together, and then they will fight each other. Seems like she does not want to be a Mandalorian. And she talked about how their people fighting each other really bothered her, which is something I believe it’s a twist to make us think they will not fight each other.

 

There’s another potential player for the Darksaber:

Paz Vizsla (voice by Jon Favreau), like Din Djarin a member of the Children of the Watch, who has been an intermittent player thus far and has already made one run at the blade. He’s a descendant of Tarre Vizsla, the Mandalorian Jedi who created the Darksaber, and also of Pre Vizsla, who led the Death Watch during the Clone Wars and aligned with both Count Dooku and an ever-increasing number of criminal groups in attempts to overthrow the pacifist-led government of Satine Kryze (sister of Bo-Katan Kryze).

 

When Bo Katan wielded the dark saber, she did so effortlessly. When Din uses it, he really labors.

I also thought that she won the dark saber in a roundabout way.

 

Not an original thought, but one I agree with. The new episode has a very gritty, Andor feel. Lots of stuff of with the inner workings of the dawn of the New Republic. And mining the gray area of: how good are the good guys, and how bad are the bad guys?

My wife, who is really in it just for the Grogu, was wondering why there wasn't more baby Yoda.

Good battle with the new Tie Fighters. But who sent them? Giddeon? Thrawn?

Also, the "trap" line was executed perfectly. Laughed out loud.
