Agreed, the Fed is likely to do a quick about-face now that the banks are showing distress. A lot of the municipalities I invested in have already loaded up on low-interest notes -- which does pose a risk on return for me, because paper I expected to be called in 2025 will likely carry through to maturity in 2030. I have a couple hospital bonds with a 5% coupon that have a 2022 call date -- they still haven't been called. I never expected that to happen.

Regardless, it's not the debtors taking a hit right now -- it's the lenders.

    Deposit giant
A deposit guarantee is not the same as a bank bailout.

In regards to Altman's tweet: How do you temporarily fully guarantee deposits?

What if the deposit exceeds the FDIC maximum of $250000?

    (Hence my question mark.)

That money is the depositors. A bailout takes care of the bank, which lost the money, and its investors.
