The Jets have retired No. 12. Wonder if they'll pull some shenanigans to let him wear it?

 

If the Chiefs didn’t unretire 16 for Montana, Broadway Aaron shouldn’t get 12.

 

LOL. No one else wanted him, including the Packers.

 

Sometimes the guy whose jersey is retired will give his blessing for a future Hall of Famer to wear it. Len Dawson offered to let Montana wear No. 16 but he declined. Steve Largent also consented to let Jerry Rice wear No. 80 for his brief stint with the Seahawks.
I assume there is some behind the scenes maneuvering that goes into that, between the team and the two players. Not sure if Namath is the type who would say OK to that, though.

 

Maybe if he’s had enough to drink…

 

I think if Suzy Kolber put a good word for him it might happen....

 

The Lions gave 56 to Pat Swilling but at least they asked Joe Schmidt if it was OK
