Anyone else watch? Decent enough setup episode and it felt like being back with your friends.

Sudeikis does such a good job playing a goofy character who is so obviously sad.

I love the subtle little references in this show. Like, "Way to notice, Amos Otis."

I wonder if there is anything from Coach Beard reading what looks to be “The Miracle of Castel di Sangro” by Joe McGinnis? The two biggest things which happened in that book were a player dying (too dark) and a match fix to ensure that another team be promoted to Serie B (too complicated). I’m guessing it was nothing but a book which Brendan Hunt liked but an odd choice.

It's subtle but definitely a clue that'll be on one of those FB "30 Clues We Missed in Ted Lasso" posts in 5 years.

And yeah, decent enough set-up season opener.

From that opener it seems very likely that the season will end with Ted going back to America and Roy Kent taking over the team.

But I would not disqualify the idea of a player dying as being too dark for this series.

I still haven’t quite gotten over the death of Earl.

Did you see that they renamed the training centre after him?

Sudeikis plays this character so well. His press conference scene was excellent. Fun start.

I’m trying to spot the theme of this season. Mental health is obviously huge, but I am noticing that how we react to negativity is also being stressed.

I’m sure Ted is happy that his kid didn’t see him sink to Nate’s level.

Words are very powerful. Nate’s father’s words have pretty much destroyed him inside and the only way he knows how to feel good is to hurt others. Pretty much a classic bully.

The team in the sewer was a classic positive reinforcement activity because Ted knows they will need each other.

The “talk” is brutal when the girl states a core belief is nothing is permanent and isn’t phased by their breaking up.

Maybe the actions of adults greatly affect our youth is the theme of this season?

This is the first time that I've watched this show on a week-to-week basis, so it was weird not to be able to click to the second episode last night. I'm really having a hard time drumming up any sort of sympathy for Nate.

I want Nate to go down hard.
