Agreed. I had totally forgotten that he was still coaching.

TruTV could probably do a funny promo of itself ahead of the tournament by getting Spandau Ballet to sing True while surfing down to channel 350 something.

It's actually the exact same odds! One out of 148 no. 15 seeds have made the Elite Eight. One out of 149 teams to enter their conference tournaments w/a sub-.500 record made the NCAAT. That's a 0.007 percent chance. I guess the odds will likely be marginally better for the sub-.500 teams by Friday night. Still not anything I'd want to stake my job upon.

Let's rate the chances of the "major" upsets before we get started. I'm not even looking at 1-16 because it isn't happening this year.

    15-2:
    1. Vermont-Marquette
    2. Princeton-Arizona
    3. UNC Asheville-UCLA
    4. Colgate-Texas

    14-3:
    1. Kennesaw State-Xavier
    2. UCSB-Baylor
    3. Montana State-Kansas State
    4. Grand Canyon-Gonzaga

    13-4:
    1. Louisiana-Tennessee (sorry TV/BTE)
    2. Iona-UConn (Gaels have a pretty distinct coaching advantage)
    3. Furman-Virginia (this seems to be a pretty trendy pick)
    4. Kent State-Indiana (I think all four of the 13s have a legit shot at wins)

Kent State had late leads at Gonzaga and Houston.
    Which means nothing.

Kennesaw is rotten at shooting free throws I’m afraid. If I were taking anybody from that bunch (which I did not) it would be Furman.

Interesting idea at my home golf club, a skins-type pool where you pick up to four teams seeded 9-16 and if any make it to the Sweet 16, you get paid. I took NC State, Charleston and VCU.

I don't think anyone is staking their job on it. They just want the tournament there because it gives teams one more chance to save their season -- and it seems to happen almost every year.

I don't know of anyone who would be shocked if Tennessee goes down in the first round.
