Fine — we’re gonna send ‘em to the Terre Haute Action Track.

I can't imagine Montreal is an option, when you have F1 there it's going to be tough to sell something below that. There's a reason junior hockey has never worked in Montreal, it's tough to compete with the big kid on the block.

CART didn't do well in Edmonton and Vancouver but I wonder if Mosport would be an option. It's a fair hike from Toronto but it's still used for the CASCAR series - Canadian stock cars - sports car racing, trucks, series like that.

Decided to say fuck it and bought two tix to the Vegas Grand Prix today. I’ll be even with the back third of the grid near the start/finish line, I think. Pricey, but, what the hell. There’s only one first Vegas Grand Prix.

I've never felt older in my life, than when I decided to NOT buy tickets for this race, completely based on the start time.

All this talk in this thread about how crappy IndyCar is promoted, and yesterday, Penske Entertainment posted a job opening for a Social Media Specialist for IndyCar.

If there was ever a perfect job that combines my professional experience and personal fascination, that would be pretty damn close. I've wanted to be connected in some way to the 500 Mile Race since I was 6. Going to work every day would be like Christmas Morning.

I actually spent the evening dusting off the resume and writing a cover letter, explaining how I wished to use my 50-plus years of knowledge to expose a new generation of fans to the things that made me a fan when I was a kid.

Just before I hit "send," I closed the window without saving.

I hope there's a 30-year-old version of me who finds that opening and applies, a kid who grew up listening to Mark Jaynes instead of Sid Collins, who would be perfect for that job. Somebody like a young Donald Davidson, who can tell stories about the past, present and future that meld the technology and human sides of the equation. Who can make the thrill and excitement pop out of a Twitter or Instagram post with fresh insights.

And I need a full-time job like a hole in the head, even if it would fulfill a life-long ambition.

You'd work the Month of May for free, it's such a rush and you know you're part of history and a civic treasure. It's the rest of the year that feels like a job, and for many not a very good one -- hence those postings coming up fairly regularly.

Geez, if I wasn't working on four long-term projects right now, all of which are for old-fashioned books ...

They even have pet insurance. I don't have a pet, but that's pretty neat.

You really should pull the trigger. That place could use someone with your passion and knowledge. If they're smart, they'll find a home for you to contribute.

Haha, I hear that. It’s the main reason we didn’t get a ticket for my son, who has a passing — but potentially growing — interest in the sport.

From a Vegas perspective, though, I think it’ll give the city the feel of a heavyweight Championship fight on race night. It also slots nicely into the way most tourists stay in Vegas from Thursday to Sunday.

Globally, I guess a good part of their audience will wake up to a good start time. ‍

Anyway, I’m pretty stoked about it, especially since it seems like we have good seats to see the action, including pre- and post-race. Booked a stay at the Aria, which is running at a 300 percent premium over the weekend prior. It’s a bit of a hike to our gate entrance, but to stay closer would have probably meant staying at MGM Grand or Planet Hollywood.

I have to say, I enjoy something about Bottas deciding to rock a mullet just because Mercedes never would have allowed it.

This Grand Prix in Australia has been nuts.

(Not trying a clickbait headlines schtick, but thinking a lot of you aren't up watching this.)
