They said he can still come back for another year if he wants. I think it's that COVID exemption.

And none of the tournament credits will turn into money for the schools doing the winning. C-USA gets all the shares from FAU, UAB, North Texas, and Charlotte. AAC certainly isn't giving them any money.

    Tough stuff, guys.

He has the COVID-19 waiver year if he wants it -- that was his freshman season

This is quite the take. Former NCAA supervisor of officials essentially says there are two rulebooks: one for the best players and one for everybody else.

They're going into the AAC. They don't have any choice but to upgrade those facilities, conference is going to be requiring it. Same for UTSA. OTOH, TV money will go up about 400 percent, and that's with conference income ramping up more over a few years for the newcomer schools.

Another cautionary tale for those who like to claim NCAA tournament losses are large-scale indictments of the loser and wins are unequivocal endorsements for winners: FAU would likely have lost in the first round this year if Memphis had been granted a time out in the final seconds.

See also: Armando Bacot, who is returning to play in Chapel Hill. Until Drew Timme gets stronger on the post and/or develops more of a perimeter game, staying is Spokane and taking some more NIL deals might be the wise move.

Creighton cashed in its Cinderella credentials the nanosecond they joined the Big East. There are no more Eddie Sutton or Dana Altman exceptions.

Yeah, I'll concede that, but FAU was still in, San Diego State. Princeton being an Ivy raises eyebrows, but there's still some Cinderella value to be had.

So, if Timme or Bacot don't declare, yet change their minds in August or September, can they sign as free agents? Or just go play overseas for a year, then become draft-eligible?

Seems like you should be able to do it like college baseball players can. You don't even have to declare for the draft once you are eligible for it. Someone can draft you, but if you don't like who, or when, or the money they offer, you go back to school with no eligibility loss.

No real suspense as to the order of games next Saturday. They might stick the opener back on TruTV.
