It's a weird deal with morning shows, the network shows get about half the ratings of the evening news - and the demos for both are very weak, less than a quarter of viewership under 50. I know they're on for two hours, but its hard to see them being the cash cow they once were.

I agree with all this ... except network mornings getting about half the audience of their evening colleagues.

I have no proof about the evening news numbers, but I know absolutely no one else, except myself, who watch Lester, Norah and whoever the "presenter" is on ABC. I rarely check one of them out and it's usually CBS.

Burleson is still officially one of the co-hosts, but seems like every time I tune in, Vlad Duthiers is covering for him, and Vlad is very much a "Ha ha! Good one, Gayle!" type of guy.
Burleson's been busy, with NFL Today, the Slimetime show on Nickelodeon, hosting the Kids' Choice Awards, etc.

It doesn’t matter who CNN puts in the morning
With their format it’s like rearranging deck chairs
All the good morning shows have a personality
Today, GMA, Morning Joe, even Fox & Friends
CNN is a network that always has tried to take the personality away from its shows and anchors because the news was the star
Unless that changes it doesn’t matter who CNN has in the morning

Going full way-back machine, who was the Headline News anchor who also was a sheriff's deputy? She was very popular during her time.

The 3 best right now are Abby Phillip, John Berman, Jim Acosta. All 3 seem woefully underplayed.

Briana Keilar too, although she didn’t work out on the morning show
