Mentioned this on the politics thread: I know someone over in that general direction who says the café is owned by the company that owns Concord Catering, Wagner Group and a few other things.

I had to look up Concord Catering. Apparently that company owns 50 percent of one of Russia’s largest defense contractors. And St. Pete is Putin Country.

The list of possible suspects here is endless. Best guess is that this guy, a very bad guy by all accounts, was offed as part of some internal feud we know nothing about.

Did the woman who gave him the trinket bomb die too?

According to reports, no, he was the only one who died. These reports are of course not exactly trustworthy, but that's what coming out of Russia. More fuel for the inside job theorists.

Of course they were gonna detain somebody right away. Doesn't mean shit as to who actually did it.

Russian police arrest woman over bombing that killed pro-war blogger

It was not immediately clear who was behind the explosion.

In an interrogation published by Russian police, Trepova said she understood she had been arrested for delivering the statue that had later exploded but declined to say who had given it to her. “Can I tell you later?” she said as the video cut off.

The Russian foreign ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, appeared to blame Ukraine, saying Tatarsky’s activities “have won him the hatred of the Kyiv regime” and he and other Russian military bloggers had long faced Ukrainian threats.

But Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner paramilitary group, said in an audio message he would “not blame the Kyiv regime” for it. “I think it is the work of a group of radicals not linked to a government,” he said in a statement. Prigozhin added that the cafe where the incident occurred previously belonged to him.
