I think he's referring to the assertion that the lab leak was a) intentional and b) part of a weapons program.

Both of which were components of early conspiracy theories.

He should have said that then. Because the original op ed talks about lab hazards (accidental leaks). ... and in his thread he was saying that there was / is no evidence of a lab leak (not simply the idea that it was released maliciously). He's correct about that. But the point is, that anyone who didnt advocate the opposite narrative (which can't be proven either) that it was a zoonatic leap was automatically being called a conspiracy theorist. That had to have had a chilling effect on any scientist who thought empirically they should have at least have been trying to investigate whether it could have been a lab leak.

I've had a cough for much of the week. My girlfriend's had something for two weeks. I called out of work yesterday and today (today was borderline) feeling one step removed from a being-hit-by-a-truck-like flu.

It's hard to describe to people how bad it was here.

This explains a great deal. It explains part of why Alabama and Mississippi and Missouri et al were so adamantly opposed to anything to mitigate the virus. Because they thought it was a libruhl plague. They enjoyed the sirens. They didn’t think it would really hit them.

That and being fed endless propaganda while having no clue about how public health and immunology actually work.

But Florida has done such a great job with COVID.
You can’t trust anything that State publishes under this klan.
