Yeah, and after last night, we’re now getting to the part where Sting doesn’t beat Hogan.

I still don't understand how they didn't have Cody's story end with a win last night. I had a feeling they might give Reigns the win just because Rhodes winning was so expected, but the whole "Cody lost because of the Bloodline and now we'll get a cage match or Hell in a Cell" or something just wasn't needed for this storyline. You're not going to get a bigger pop from the crowd than you would have last night.

A part of me wonders if the sale maybe caused them to change the storyline. Like maybe we should expect a UFC guy to come in and beat Roman now. Which would suck, but I've seen dumber things happen with WWE. I hope that's not the case, but I can't help but think about it considering the timing and all.

That or maybe they want to do something like have a rematch on Friday on Smackdown and have the belt change then in one of those "You never know what's going to happen" moments, plus they could give Fox a little bump for all the money they pay for Smackdown.

I don't know. I keep trying to make sense of it because it really doesn't make sense.

Unless the “Sting” in this scenario is still The Rock.

I really think they look at the Bloodline saga as their Sopranos and want to continue it as long as they can. Which is why I think the person to take the belt off Roman will be Solo Sikoa or someone else in the actual "bloodline."

I just don't see Solo anywhere close to that yet. Maybe with a year of building him up he could be there next 'Mania, but I don't even know then. Maybe Jey, but they didn't do anything to advance that last night really. He just came out to help Roman like a good soldier again.

Not 2 months ago weren’t we saying “This isnt Codys story its too rushed”? Now they wait and make a longer build and everyones losing their minds that they missed the moment? I dont get it

And THAT'S why the Cell match seemed rushed.

I keep coming back to this. Him losing at SummerSlam, even with the increased prestige it now has, would be a let down at this point. Reigns has to lose it on the grandest stage of them all.

The money is in the chase … and Cody’s chase has been a relatively short one to date: 2 months after a Rumble win, with no losses since his return until now.

I do wonder what if Cody never tore his pec. His chase likely would’ve started much earlier and maybe last night is scripted differently. And would we have gotten the Zayn dynamic that played out over several months?

Damn, no wonder they stopped the match as long as they did.

Triple H said in his presser that they put staples in his head during the stoppage. Which showcases another difference between WWE and AEW. In WWE they use a staple gun to stop the bleeding. In an AEW match, they'd use one to start it.

Seeing that, it's incredible that he bounced back up and finished the match as well as he did. The face paint hid how bad that shot was. Hard to imagine what the visual would have looked like if he hadn't had the paint on.
