Gotta remember we don't really have drive-thru windows here as our not-cooking-tonight convenience.

Delivery has historically been our drive-thru.

So telling a New Yorker "Tough. Pick it up instead." is like telling the rest of America not to use the drive thru.

I have a couple of places that I frequent that use in-house delivery and cut out the GrubHubs and Door Dashes of the world, which cuts the cost a bit. Then again, when you've had a wee too much at happy hour and get home and want food, a delivery surcharge is better than getting a DUI, so sometimes I'll call that extra money drunk tax.

Rest of America needs to learn that when there's a drive-through (will never use thru) eight cars deep, you can always park, walk 20 feet, go inside and get your "to go" order before six of the eight cars have been served. It's not delivery, drive-through or nothing.

    Of course not.

(Sidebar: Worth considering the contribution to the global climate crisis and air pollution and petropolitics of those eight idling cars. Multiplied by the thousands day and night. )

Almost always faster to walk in.

It's not unusual to see traffic come to a standstill in the right lane.

    Accident up ahead?

No. Chik-fil-A drive-through overflowing to the main street.

Which is really ridiculous when you consider how efficient they usually are at getting people in and out of that drive-thru.

    Team Popeyes.

    Fuck CfA

But your point does stand, they do work their drive-thru well.

I've never been laid off but I'd love for it to happen with my young children playing in the next room.

(I really don't have kids either, but you know, you don't have to have security guards escorting folks out. They need a reference, no?)

Post-Covid, I’ve usually found that drive through delays are caused by severe understaffing, and that problem doesn’t solve itself if I park and go inside.
