Many of those doubleheaders were caused by rainouts. And train travel for citizens was severely disrupted by WWII.

The A's also sometimes simply cancelled a Thursday or Friday day game and rescheduled it as part of a Sunday doubleheader. That's what happened in 1941, when Williams went 6-for-8 in a DH on the final day; Friday's scheduled day game was simply postponed and turned into a Sunday doubleheader.

I have no concrete reason for this.

But it feels weird for the Yankees to have a No. 0 on the mound.

    It's 1967 again!

Alcantara shuts out Minnesota with a three-hit complete game ... finished in 1:57.

Service Time Manipulation has been executed.

O's already have some rotation injury issues (Bradish) so I think that played a big role in calling up Rodriguez.

I'm sure it did, but teams manipulating players' service time have usually kept those players in the minors to the detriment of the major-league team.

Today isn't even close to the date to avoid Super-2 status.

Yeah, I really don't think service time was driving this. They just really want to get him in the rotation as soon as they can.

Reese McGuire allowed to round the bases on a three-run foul homer that would have tied the game. Once review overturns it, he whiffs. Go Pirates!

I was wondering what happened there. I saw that he had hit a three-run home run, then that it was changed to a strikeout. Given that I have Mitch Keller on two fantasy teams, I was quite happy with the turn of events. :)

Nobody gives a fuck about your fantasy team!***

(Because I have McGuire on one and I'm sore about this)
