Because at that point you might as well secede. It's inviting intervention by the federal government which must guarantee every citizen has a republican form of government in every state. You toss out Dems you're basically declaring Civil War Part II, Electric Trumpaloo

That dead old man can't catch a break. Getting his base renamed after something he didn't believe in: Liberty.

Rapidly becoming the most overrated state in the land. For decades, demographers have told us that NC would become purple or blue thanks to the influx of well educated people in biotech and banking.
Voted for Obama in 2008. Otherwise status quo. Jesse Helms is cackling in his grave.

This might be terrible, but I can’t take seriously a grown-ass man called “Tate.” That an 8-year-old’s name.

I was driving through there the other day listening to the radio. It would be hard to guess how many things in Fayetteville are named Fort Bragg This and Fort Bragg That, including roads. Those aren't getting renamed, so it will be funny the disjoint between the actual base and everything around it.

It's a heavily-Democratic district, according to the story. She's now a lame duck, with no future in her home district.

Right, but in the meantime she serves the remainder of her term and now there's no longer a path to stop the nuts in the NC General Assembly from going wild, especially in a post-Dobbs world. Last time they had this much control, they passed the anti-trans "Bathroom Bill" that cost the state billions.

Apparently she felt like she got "bullied" by Dems last week after she was one of three Dems not present for a veto override of some legislation making guns easier to get. The vote was taken the day after the Nashville school shooting. Apparently she had a medical appointment. Their absence let the override happen. Classic "I'll take my ball and go home" behavior, leaving the party after getting a little flak.

Lot of rumors swirling, and being repeated by people I generally trust, that she's been in a lengthy relationship with the speaker of the house.
