I wanted to come back to this point for just a second …

This is why we like IndyCars on ovals rather than road courses.

I get the impression F1 stewards have a big prize spin wheel when it comes to deciding what to do after accidents. "We're going to do...red flag! With no new tires!" There seems to be little to no consistency. Either that, or Brain France quietly got a new job.

I think Dale would have retired after the 2003 season and focused on team ownership/racing Corvettes. No telling how much more competitive Dale Jr. would have been if his dad was around. Something to keep in mind with Adam: the Petty team wasn't exactly championship caliber. Would Adam have been good enough to lift the team, or would the team have been able to attract top talent to make it a championship caliber outfit? Or would Adam have left for a top team?
When you consider how well RCR and DEI did without Dale in 2001, I don't think it's a stretch to say Dale wins at least an 8th title, and both of those teams stay strong for a while. As it was, they got through 2001 and pretty much collapsed for a couple of years (aside from DEI at the plate races). With Dale around, he keeps the teams on track.

Dale had three major corporations on his cars, and his ride was funded by an OEM.

Everyone heard about how he became a good business man, but what’s rarely mentioned are the big fish he hooked on his cars. The guy knew how to sell, and he knew how to use his persona to sell. And since it was DEI, I’m guessing those were major deals.

Part of that was the times, as everyone wanted in, but they also wanted in WITH HIM.

Rode past the enormous permanent paddock under construction for Vegas F1. Anyone know what the plan is for it the other 48 weeks of the year?

A.J. Foyt's wife, Lucy, died yesterday at 85. I'm still stunned SuperTex is still alive and kicking after all he's been through.

Fox and NBC are paying an average of roughly $800 million a season to broadcast races from NASCAR’s top three series and NASCAR is eyeing an increase starting in 2025. That hope for more TV money from the networks comes as TV ratings have declined from 2022 in 2023. Viewership has been down significantly for the majority of the first seven Cup Series races this season and there doesn’t appear to be a clear reason why unless Chase Elliott fans are refusing to watch while their favorite driver is on the sidelines because of a fractured tibia.

As much as viewership and attendance have declined, NASCAR is nuts if it thinks it's going to get more for a product that fewer people are watching.

And NASCAR doesn't want to share because France family. Never change.

Cale is certainly top five in the sport's history. He's been MIA for the past 15 years, so perhaps this isn't unexpected.

Michael McDowell with maybe the save of the year. How the hell do you do a full 360 in the middle of traffic at Bristol and not hit a single thing?
