An interesting choice of words in that trailer. I wonder if we’re getting more from Zahn than just Thrawn.

I was already looking forward to this, but the trailer looks really good, too. They showed a lot without actually revealing much of the plot.

I've heard plenty of speculation that they are going to do a version of Heir to the Empire. Zahn has written a trilogy of books about Thrawn that are part of the current canon. His original trilogy is considered Legends now, so not canon, but they are pulling quite a bit from it.

She was fine in the role and I like the character despite some of the stories they put her in, but I still wish they would throw out all three sequels and tell a story going forward in the Mando-verse that is unencumbered by that crap. Mostly, I just hate the way they ended the stories of the big three. I'm not sure any of those narratives were worthy of the characters we grew up with.

Finally caught up. Hey, I was right about the dark saber a few weeks ago!

Like this season, but not as much as the previous two. Unsure where it's going with the remaining two, though the emergence of the First Order seems to be underlying.

Heavy bridges to the prequel movies, too.

"Heir to the Empire" right out the Tim Zahn books. Looks great.

We got another Zahn character today. But much older than I would have thought.

I had the day off work, so I binged all seven episodes of the season today. And - Hey, it's still good! Part of the fun of HEY MANDO is that we don't know where these characters end up, and I think pretty much anything is still in play.

He was the right age and look, compared to his image in the old Dark Horse comic adaptation of Heir to the Empire.

I'm torn about this episode. I like a lot of what they did, finally paying off the various storylines from the season, but the structure of it bothers me. The opening scene telegraphs too much of what comes later. The action beats are still good, but they would have worked better if the information from that opening scene was woven in through dialogue later. They also left a hell of a lot to do in the final episode again. They needed Luke Skywalker to come to the rescue to clean it all up last season. As much as I enjoyed that, I hope they don't have a similar stunt lined up for this one.

But... Who says a rescue is coming? I think at the end of S2, that was a Big Damn Heroes kind of moment. Most of this season has been exploring about how from there, things have gone sideways - Moff Gideon escapes, the New Republic is sliding into a bureaucratic morass, the First Order is starting to organize, Thrawn has been brought up. The only thing that's gone right is Bo-Katan regaining her confidence. I could definitely see this season ending with Mando, Grogu, Bo-Katan and the Mandos forced into hiding, or retreating to a distance that keeps them out of the sequel trilogy.

If there is another Big Damn Hero moment coming, then I think it's probably:
Ahsoka, who's lurking out there, and has her own show coming out. Synergy! Maybe Ezra Bridger as a darkhorse candidate. And ultimately, I think the end game with HEY MANDO is that it'll link up with Rey's show in the far future. I think there is a zero percent chance they kill Grogu off, but they'll need to explain his lack of presence in the ensuing war in some way, and "off on adventures far away" makes sense to me.
