My lord, we must strenuously but respectfully object.

Clapton gets it on style points I guess. I have both versions on my phone and prefer the Gentle Giant. There is a good Crossroad version where Clapton, Albert Lee, Vince Gill and Jerry Douglas lay down some solos, but Sheryl Crow is kind of hammy on vocals.

    wut?

    i get some, but 100%?

no mention of the vocals, maybe I skimmed by it.

From the article, Mars on the last tour:

And yes, on this particular tour, Nikki’s bass was 100% recorded. Tommy’s drums, to the best of my knowledge, there was a lot.

I am as guilty as anyone of overusing "banger", but this sure as he'll is one.

There are a lot of bands that are heavily depending on backing tapes live. Supposedly Paul Stanley is 100% on tape when KISS performs.

But yo, if the BASS is 100% on tape... it may be time to call it a day.

Ironically, a lot of the feedback on their last tour was that Vince Neil was terrible (duh) but you couldn't really hear him anyway because the mix was an indecipherable wall of drum and bass.

A lot of the 80s hair bands had a minimum requirement of one guy who could actually do the thing because if the the image did the heavy lifting, the the other guys could learn on the job. Not everyone can be Duran Duran, i.e. gorgeous looking dudes with skill to match.

Crue had Mick Mars and Tommy Lee to actually be good at their instruments with Vince and Nikki there for show. Label guys going to their early shows at The Country Club immediately noticed that Sixx was just fumbling around and Neil wasn't very good but the crowd response was still like nothing they'd seen. They knew they could market them and the rest would get figured out later.

Nikki got better with time but there have long been rumors of his parts being filled in (crowd surfing while the bass line doesn't falter). Hectares of drugs and lots of time off have done him no favors, either. He looks much better than he has any right to but it wouldn't surprise me if his memory and skills have deteriorated to the point that he's just back to fumbling around up there.

    Still better than Journey, though.

Love Don Williams but I prefer the song as a rocker
As good as EC’s slide guitar is what makes it for me is the piano intro by Chris Stainton

What are your thoughts on the band Journey?

I think they are a massively overrated band

Damn right. I saw the Satellites three times. The first time, touring behind their debut, they opened for Tom Petty and blew them off the stage. The last show I saw, in a small club not far from the airport here in Toronto, was the best club show I have ever seen.
