At 5 a.m. on the Left Coast! If you try to watch and aren’t fully awake, the Masters “hold music” (as my wife calls it) might send you back to dreamland.

    From the Masters website:

Augusta National Golf Club can confirm that no injuries were reported from three trees that were blown over to the left of the No. 17 tee due to wind. The safety and well-being of everyone attending the Masters Tournament will always be the top priority of the Club. We will continue to closely monitor weather today and through the Tournament.

Today’s events give me occasion to use one of my favourite words: widowmakers.

Maybe they'll cue up an old Tiger win. Looks doubtful that any golf will be played tomorrow.

There will be some very nervous folks in the media center holding invitations to play Monday.

Amazing nobody got hurt. Most Masters patrons probably don't have cat-like reflexes.

That answers the question whether a falling tree makes a sound despite the "QUIET PLEASE" sign being displayed.

And that's the very definition of a three wood off the 17th tee.

Double hat tip. You smoked that one.

I do enjoy wordplay and masterful pulls.
